I’m Martha Delaine, a Registered Yoga Teacher, writer, and founder of StretchIndex, with over 15 years of experience practicing and teaching yoga. My approach combines Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, Yin-style stretching, breathwork, Pilates-based exercises, and targeted mobility training. I’m particularly interested in how flexibility, strength, and posture work together to improve the way we move and feel every day. Through StretchIndex, I share practical routines, stretching techniques, and lessons from years of teaching, helping people build healthier movement habits, improve their range of motion, and make yoga a natural part of everyday life.
What will you read?
Most of my work revolves around yoga, Pilates, stretching, mobility, and recovery. I have a particular interest in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, Yin-style stretching, breathwork, and exercises that improve flexibility and posture. So you’ll find yoga sequences, stretching routines, Pilates exercises, and articles about flexibility, mobility, posture, and recovery.
Some articles focus on specific techniques, while others address questions I regularly hear from students, such as how to improve hip flexibility, relieve stiffness after sitting all day, or modify a yoga pose that doesn’t feel comfortable.
I also share exercises from my own practice, including some I’ve used and taught for years, along with newer techniques I’ve incorporated into my routines.
Why I Started StretchIndex?
After more than 15 years of teaching yoga, I’ve heard many of the same questions. Why can’t I touch my toes? Why does one hip feel tighter than the other? How often should I stretch? Am I doing this pose correctly? I started StretchIndex to share what I’ve learned through my own practice and years of working with students. I wanted a place where I could explain techniques in more detail, address common difficulties, and share routines people can practice at home.
